December Wrap Up

December was a month of wrapping things up; the semester, work projects, and Christmas gifts! It was a busy end to the year, but we managed to fit in some great adventures between the final exams and holiday festivities.

The Sahar Scoop: The semester is officially over! Sahar finished her finals and is now waiting for grades to come out in early January. It’s a well-deserved break after a grueling few months. But because law school never really stops, she’s still in the thick of career planning. She’s applying to summer internships, getting interviews, and emailing recruiters for summer jobs during both her first and second-year summers. It's all very exciting (and a little stressful, but mostly exciting).

The Benoît Blurb: I unfortunately caught my usual yearly winter cold this month, but luckily recovered just in time for our travels. Work is going fine; I got an upgraded laptop this month which is always nice. It’s also currently end of year review season at CharterUP, I should hear back about a possible promotion or raise sometime in January or February.

After the academic and professional dust settled, we got to the fun part: travel!

We had a nice visit with Sahar's sister, and spent a great day having lunch, chatting, and hitting a (particularly challenging) escape room with her. We then hiked all three days of our short trip to Tahoe, rewarding ourselves with steak and mac & cheese for dinner (the best hiking fuel). We got pelted by little pieces of snow / hail towards the end of the last hike, but the rest of the weather was sunshine and clear skies so we didn't mind too much.

After Tahoe, we flew to Granny’s place in Colorado for Christmas. Finally reuniting with Suki (the pup we dog-sat for a year in New York) who is living the good life out here. We had a very nice Christmas with family and were spoiled with lots of nice gifts. We also made sure to visit Grandpa a few times in the nursing home, he's doing alright.

Since we can’t seem to stay indoors for long, we did more hiking in Colorado too! We also did a short drive through the Garden of the Gods in Colorado Springs. To recover from all the activity, we stopped by the hot springs one evening; very nice, very zen. There was plenty of rest time at home mixed in too, of course. Puzzles, reading, movies, etc.

We’re heading into the new year feeling rested and ready for whatever 2026 brings. Happy New Year!
