Benoît's Birthday Month
Written by: Benoît Ortalo-Magné · February 2026
February was a busy but very celebratory month for us! Between birthdays, Valentine's Day, and some exciting career news, the shortest month of the year definitely kept us on our toes.
It all started with my birthday. We had a nice relaxing day starting with a big brunch of waffles, eggs, bacon, and hash browns in the morning, and a flourless chocolate cake for dessert after dinner.

The Sahar Scoop: Sahar got an offer for a summer internship, multiple actually! She accepted a position at a big law firm in San Francisco. We’ll be moving there for the summer, which might be a bit complicated to figure out, but we're excited. She's also still studying hard, with lots of work to do right now since midterms are coming up next week. When she's not in the books, she's been having fun making very nice bowls in her wheel pottery class and spent an afternoon painting pottery with friends.

The Benoît Blurb: My work suddenly got very chaotic as we had a big contract going on for most of the month. A colleague and I flew down to Pasadena for a week to provide on-site support for the bus management operations. We had to make sure the various tablets, phones, and printers all ran smoothly, and replace them if something went wrong. We also ended up loading suitcases onto buses; someone had to do it and we happened to be in the right place at the right time. They were busy days, but only Thursday and Friday were really long, and I got to come home a day early so not too bad. We also finally had our performance reviews and I got a raise, nice!
We celebrated Valentine's Day by doing our taxes together (very romantic), then caught a movie later for a little fun, and had a nice dinner at an Italian restaurant in Sacramento. Sahar was nice and ordered the biggest steak on the menu so I could have the leftovers :)

We're also busy prepping for our trip to France in May, where we'll spend time planning more of the wedding. We can't wait to see what March brings, hopefully more nice California weather!
