Vienna and The Bay

June was a whirlwind. We bounced between exploring our new backyard of San Francisco, jetting off to Vienna for a wedding, and capping it all off with a move into our new home for the upcoming semester.

June kicked off with us diving headfirst into SF life. We went to both the Union Street Festival and an Italian festival, and yes, we made sure to have proper traditional Italian food followed immediately by gelato. Museum-wise we started chipping away at the de Young (it's huge, so we're saving the rest for another visit), wandered through the Asian Art Museum, and spent a nice afternoon in the Botanical Gardens and Golden Gate Park. We also found sourdough croissants in the city (which Sahar can actually eat) and for American-made, they held up surprisingly well.

The Sahar Scoop: Sahar had a great month cheering on the SF Valkyries at a basketball game, and she also tracked down a pottery studio she's excited about. Between her law internship and our weekend outings, she's clearly making the most of being in SF.

The Benoît Blurb: Nothing too crazy on my end this month, just trying to take advantage of being close to the city as well.

The biggest adventure of the month was our trip to Vienna! We landed late on the 17th and packed the days full: coffee at Café Prückel, visiting St. Stephen's Cathedral, cake at Demel, touring the Hofburg Palace, and getting lost in the Kunsthistorisches Museum. My parents also came for the wedding so we had dinners with them, a nice reunion (plus they brought us our favorite scones from London!). Day two was a free walking tour (hot and sunny, but our guide kept us in the shade), a stop at the Albertina to see their art collection, and a wine-cellar dinner with live accordion music. The trip wrapped up with a quick sprint to one last museum to see The Kiss by Klimt, then the wedding, a beautiful way to close out our time in Austria before an early flight home on Sunday.

Back in the Bay, Sahar's work invited us to a baseball game with great seats, I got to meet some of her colleagues, and we each had the famous crab sandwich (verdict: fine, very overpriced, but hey company card). We even took a fully self-driving Waymo taxi home afterward, which was about as weird as it was cool. And then came the big one: we spent a weekend moving almost everything out of our old Davis apartment and into our new home, where we'll be sharing a house with a friend from law school.

June was full; lots of museums, an international wedding, a baseball outing, and a full-on move. July will be our last month in San Francisco before we head back to Davis to get ready for another year of law school!
